Important for you.
There’s been a lot going on around the cbsop campus that I haven’t had time to share with you, so I thought I’d take a moment to bring you up to date with what’s going on in the non-food side of our world. Some of it is good, some of it isn’t. Some of it is important to you and some is personal but hey, we’re all friends here so I figured I’d share.
First of all, the cbsop.com mailing list is moving from FeedBlitz to AWeber. if you’d like to continue to receive updates on posts or other important happenings (such as the soon-to-be-launched weekly newsletter), you’ll need to sign up for the new list, either by visiting the site (If you aren’t already) and filling out the form in the sidebar or by clicking here and entering your name and email address. I know it’s a pain for you to have to do this, but we’ve outgrown the current service and are moving forward.
The old email list will be phased out tomorrow, so if you’re getting this message via email or RSS, it’s definitely time to update.
Speaking of RSS, that’s also being moved. Actually, it already has moved. The new RSS feed is hosted at feedburner, and you can point your reader to it by following this link.
Also, we’re working on a nearly-super-secret project that we can’t wait to unveil to you in the next few days. It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a while now, and all the pieces have finally fallen into place. It’s going to be fun, it’s going to be interactive, and it’s most definitely going to need you to make it even better, so stay tuned (and make sure to update those links above so that you don’t miss it!)
On the personal front
This has been both a great month and a very difficult one for us. firstly, we got involved with the #SundaySupper movement, which is a very good thing. It’s near and dear to us, so expect to hear more about the movement and the people involved in it. We’re on the verge of launching (re-launching, actually) a project of our own that we feel is equally important, but that’s been put on a bit of a hold due to:
We got a call on wednesday informing us that my Mother-in-law had suffered a massive heart attack. News like this is always bad, but it was compounded by the fact that my wife just returned from a trip to visit her mother last month, and we simply could not afford to send her back to Arkansas on zero notice.
Enter the Internet and the most awesome people in the world!
No, I didn’t mention it to you guys, because I never had to. I’ve seen the generosity of the food community and I’m sure that you would have helped, but the writing community is just as generous. My wife is a writer. Her peers and readers raised the money for her and my oldest son to be on a train by the next morning. With Expenses.
For all of you who helped. You are wonderful, amazing, awesome people and I can never thank you enough. Just know that if any of Y’all ever need us and we have it to give, We’ll be there for you as well.
The Not-So-Very Attractive:
Well, I think he’s pretty good lookin’
Meet Rocky, the newest addition to the cbsop family. Rocky enjoys leisurely walks, lying in the sun, snoring, sleeping and cleaning up the kitchen floor after mishaps. Rocky was adopted from a family who could no longer keep him. He was part of our family within 10 minutes.
Now. I have to get back to work on my almost secret project and my next post for #SundaySupper.
Take a moment and call someone you haven’t talked to in a while. Hug your loved ones. Tell everyone that you love just how much you love them. Life is short, you never know if it will be the last time you get the chance.
