Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza

Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza

How many times have you had to decide whether you wanted to go out for burgers or just go get a good slice of pie? It’s a classic mealtime dilemma, one that causes strife in countless households every evening. Dad and little Suzy want pizza, Mom and little Bobby want burgers. Eventually a compromise has to be reached, but in either case someone didn’t get what they really wanted for dinner.

Well, we at the cbsop kitchens are here to help as always. Through the use of science, a think-tank staffed with the finest minds that a third-grade class could provide and the tact of a circus hawker, we have transmogrified these two classic meals into one, thus saving your family from disappointment and woe.

Oh sure, it may sound a little funny and, to the casual observer it looks much like any other pizza, but the flavor will amaze you. This really does taste like a cheeseburger, but it’s made just like any other pizza:

It’s incredible. I mean seriously incredible. You have to try this. It’s that good. It’s so good that I find it nearly impossible to put into words. The best phrase I have to describe the happiness that is this pizza is “OMG Yum!” Or perhaps, “Can I have more?”

For the record, this is an indulgence dish. It isn’t any better for you than your average bacon cheeseburger. Having said that, I’m telling you that you need to make this dish at some point this week. Or now.

Now would be better.  Seriously. Just look at this thing, resplendent in all its bacon-cheesy goodness:

It’s a crowd pleaser. It solves an age-old dilemma. It’s good.

Of course you don’t have to use the toppings I describe here. You can make this with any cheeseburger toppings that you like. What are your favorite cheeseburger ingredients? Share your ideas for improvements or omissions in the comments. We’d love to hear from you.

Oven “Smoked” Beef Brisket

August 11, 2011 Recipes

There are those who will go out of their way to tell you (loudly) that you cannot possibly create a great, smoky brisket in a home oven. They will extoll (also loudly) that you cannot get the flavor or texture of smoked brisket without a specialized smoker or pit. These people will then usually go on to mock (very loudly) what has come to be known as Faux-B-Que as the greatest evil to ever be foisted upon the world of Barbecue.

Sadly, in as much as I know and love some of these individuals, they are terribly, horribly wrong.

Crostini with Roast Beef and Salsa Fresca

Are you looking for a dish that is quick, light and packed with flavor? How about one that can be cooked on the grill so you don’t have to heat up the house? What if I told you that it can be served as an appetizer or as the main course… Would you be interested?

This is one of those cases where less really is more. Each component stands on its own but also blends into a harmonious whole that somehow becomes something new. Something special. Yes, it’s just beef, salsa and garlic rubbed toast, but it’s better than that. It’s more complete.

If you’ve been looking for a great way to use up some leftover roast beef, look no farther than the all-American classic, beef hash.  Not only does this dish do an amazing job of stretching your leftovers into a complete meal but the flavor will amaze you.

While the origins of a chopped meat dish are questionable, hash as we know it today is a distinctly American dish that varies …

Balsamic Braised Beef Ribs

June 23, 2010 Recipes

Beef Ribs.  For me, the very mention of this wonderful finger food immediately conjures up memories of the massive wood fired pits I became accustomed to in Texas.  Those BBQ places that actually had ribs on the menu were few and far between, but they were invariably my favorite places to eat.  Brisket is great, but for me ribs are far more succulent and I was there for the grease-covered …

Chicken Fried Steak Recipe

May 7, 2010 Recipes

(From the archives: this is one of my earliest recipes and I noticed that it could use some polish and a bit of a facelift.  The recipe has ben rewritten to read more clearly, etc,  Enjoy!)

While chili (particularly “Texas Red”, and yes, that means no beans.) is the official state food of Texas, there is little doubt that the unofficial state food of Texas is the chicken fried …

Asian Marinated Grilled Beef Heart Salad

March 18, 2010 Recipes

If you’re looking for something quick, packed with flavor and decidedly different from what you’re used to, I may have found the perfect recipe for you.  While I’ve done beef salads before, I’ve never had anything quite as interesting or subtle as this posted here and I think it deserves a try, even if the main ingredient has you doing a double take.

This dish combines a subtlety of flavors …

Beef Heart Chili Recipe

February 26, 2010 Recipes

Lately I’ve been spending quite a bit of time on the icky-bits.  Firstly, I agree with the nose-to-tail movement.  I firmly believe that if an animal has given me the honor of its very life so that I may eat that no part of that gesture should be wasted.

Granted, the animal in question may never understand the sacrifice it has made or why.  It may never know that I’m …

Carne Asada Tacos

January 19, 2010 Recipes

If there’s one food that Americans have adopted from another culture and changed to their own liking it’s the taco.  In fact, most Americans wouldn’t know a real taco if it bit them.  We’ve changed them too much.  Chain restaurants have buried the simple and noble flavors under mounds of lettuce, yellow processed cheese goo and whatever else they can come up with.

In the end, that ain’t a taco.  …

Beer Braised Beef Shank with Garlic Grits

December 8, 2009 Recipes

Although there were a ton of great dishes to be sampled at the foodbuzz Food Festival in San Francisco this November, only a few dishes really stood out as exceptional.  The other dishes that stand out most in my memory aren’t the ones that were done perfectly the first time.  The dishes that always stick with me are the ones that were almost perfect. Those dishes that I find …
